Marine Protection Coatings

boat

thumbCeramic Pro is highly rated in the aviation and automotive industry, but its formula also happens to beat just about any other competitor in the marine care industry. Boat and yacht owners that have applied Ceramic Pro years ago are still raving about the amazing condition that their exterior and interior surfaces are still in.

Our goal in the marine industry is to remove the need for frequent exhausting, non-environmentally friendly, and expensive hull cleanings. Boat owners that utilize Ceramic Pro 9H on their boat and yacht surfaces will be able to protect against the corrosion caused by salt water, weathering, algae, shells, and other corrosive materials.

The Ceramic Pro New York Difference in the Marine Industry

It’s still unclear to us why many boat detailers use wax and sealants on boats and yachts since they wash away and break down within a few months of being applied. Well, it’s clear that it’s advantageous for details to keep applying such coatings every few months, but it’s not clear why boat owners continue to pay time after time. Instead, we offer a long-term to permanent solution (if properly maintained) that forms a permanent bond with paint finishes and can only be removed through sanding.

On automotive surfaces, Ceramic Pro paint protection is so strong that it can resist stone chips, scratches, and other paint damage. On boats, Ceramic Pro is just as effective. It is actually rated above 9H on the Mohs mineral hardness scale which determines impact resistance. 9H is the highest on the scale and Ceramic Pro is so strong that it exceeds the highest rating!

Ceramic Pro comes in a few different product versions that protect surfaces ranging from paint to textiles, some of which are for interior use and some of which are for exterior use. Ceramic Pro also comes in a Strong version which protects against alkalis, acid, and other corrosive chemicals. This makes Ceramic Pro Strong a great choice for boat and yacht owners looking for the highest possible protection on their paint surfaces.

Also, since Ceramic Pro fully covers surfaces and doesn’t come off, it will stop metal and paint underneath from oxidizing and rusting due to air and water. Not to mention that when Ceramic Pro is properly applied to a boat paint surface by a certified Ceramic Pro detailer, it will be able to resist temperatures as high as 1400f.

Another aspect that Ceramic Pro protects boats from is UV rays. Ceramic Pro uses silkoxid which blocks sun rays from damaging paint, rubber, and plastic on boats. Aside from paint and surface protection, Nano Shine also succeeds in their products being visually appealing. A boat that has had Ceramic Pro applied to its surface will have a Super Gloss that is unmatched by any other product in the industry. You will literally have to see the gloss that Ceramic Pro creates on paint surfaces to believe it. It is simply out of this world.

Since the nano-ceramic formula that Ceramic Pro is based on is Super Hydrophobic by nature, boat owners will be able to enjoy a boat free of water and salt spots. Whereas water clings on a regular paint finish, water drops that hit a boat with a Ceramic Pro coating will simply roll off and not leave any spots behind. This also helps minimize stains and fading caused by salt water.

Ceramic Pro Aircraft Protection at Apollo Coatings and Detailing

Apollo Coatings and Detailing utilizes Ceramic Pro products and specialty formulations for automotive paint and surface protection.  This incredible technology is also perfect for planes, jets, and helicopters. The formula utilized by LI Detailers is extremely versatile and creates an impervious bond with all surfaces to protect against chemical and weather corrosion.

For planes, jets, and helicopters, there is also a high-end protection formulation which is called Ceramic Pro Strong which protects against the harshest of chemicals, acids, and alkalis as well as weather conditions.

What Makes Ceramic Pro Protection Different?

Unlike waxes and sealants that have to continually be applied to planes, jets, and helicopters, the Ceramic Pro Aircraft coating solution is permanent.   Many aircraft owners and operators will apply Ceramic Pro to the exterior to remove the need to consistently pay for wax and sealant products in some cases monthly.  Aircraft are exposed to extreme weather conditions and environmental pollutants that are avoided with a permanent coating solution.

Unlike waxes and sealants that deteriorate and fail in weeks, Ceramic Pro forms a permanent molecular bond with the surface it is applied to insuring it will never come off, unless it is physically abraded off with a high amount of friction.

The Mohs rating of Ceramic Pro’s hardness is above 9H, and the highest rating on the scale is 9H! Such a hardness rating indicates that Ceramic Pro is strong enough to protect your aircraft from even the toughest conditions on the planet.

Ceramic Pro Aircraft Protection also beats waxes and sealants where they fail: temperature resistance. Ceramic Pro is extremely resistant to extreme temperatures up to 1400 Degrees Fahrenheit!   The results of this testing will continue to protect your aircraft even at punishing temperatures!

Ceramic Pro offers a lifetime warranty that applies to planes, jets, and helicopters when the Ceramic Coating is applied by LI Detailers, a certified Ceramic Pro detailer.

Ceramic Pro’s tremendous track record and certifications make it the superior product for aircraft protection.  Ceramic Pro also offers leather, glass, and rubber protection products so the incredible protection can be brought inside the aircraft also.

Investing in a Ceramic Pro coating application by LI Detailers will protect your investment and maintain the re-sale value while providing with a stunning aesthetic look that will last a lifetime!

Certification Backed Coating Protection

Ceramic Pro has been tested and certified by SGS, one of the world’s leading certification Company. In their tests they concluded that the gloss level of Ceramic Pro is high, that the coating can withstand direct 5% salt spray for 350 hours, that the pencil hardness is higher than 9H, and that the impact rating (ASTM D2494) is 80/80 inch-lbs. Compared to waxes and sealants, Ceramic Pro beats these competitors by far.

Matte Paint Finishes & Matte Vinyl Wrap Protection

racing-car

Car enthusiasts and automakers are all competing to create the shiniest, most reflective paint finishes possible.  However some have turned to a different type of finish in order to stand out: matte paints. These non-reflective finishes don’t have the shiny, glossy appearance of typical new cars — but on the right vehicle, they can look incredible. This is also true for aftermarket options such as matte vinyl vehicle wraps.

The only problem is that matte paints and vinyl wraps require special attention when cleaning, otherwise they can be damaged irreparably. At LI Detailers we can protect your matte finish or wrapped vehicle with Ceramic Pro 9H surface protection technology.  Ceramic Pro 9H is a Permanent Nano-Ceramic Paint Coating that features a Satin finish, unmatched Super Hydrophobic Effect, Scratch Resistance, Chemical Resistance, UV Resistance, Thermal Resistance and Anti-Graffiti.

Both the Super Hydrophobic and Anti-Graffiti effect combined means the surface coated with 9H will stay cleaner for longer as dirt and grime will not stick to the surface and the super hydrophobic effect of the coating will cause water to bead up and roll of the surface with any dirt and grime while the hard ceramic film also offers superior protection from damaging contamination and harsh chemicals.

9H forms a permanent bond to the paint work or vinyl and will not wash away or break down, 9H can only be removed by abrasion making it a highly durable protective coating to protect your paint work for damaging contaminants.

Who Makes Them?

Matte paint finishes & matte vinyl wraps have long been a staple of the auto-show circuit, used to help make a concept car stand out from the glossy crowd. In recent years, mainstream automakers have brought matte colors to the general public. BMW first introduced its Frozen matte paints for various special editions of the M3, and recently made Frozen Bronze Metallic a $3500 option on the new 6 Series Gran Coupe.  Mercedes-Benz has a far more extensive offering of matte paints, which are called Magno and cost $3950. Magno Night Black paint is offered on the G-Class; Magno Platinum is available on the CL-, S-, and G-Class; Magno Cashmere White can be had on the E-, CL-, CLS-, SLK-, S-, and SL-Class; and Magno Alanite Grey can be optioned on the E-, CL-, CLS-, SLK-, S-, and SL-Class, plus the SLS AMG.

Though there are several ways to create matte paint finishes, most use a different type of clear coat. Whereas regular automotive paint is designed to be shiny, clear, and reflective, the clear coat on matte finishes is hazy and somewhat diffuses the underlying base coat color.  Aftermarket suppliers also offer many colors for owners to repaint their cars in a matte finish, and exotic manufacturers like Lamborghini routinely show off custom matte cars.  This is where the matte vinyl wraps have become so popular.

What Not To Do

The key point is to avoid allowing scratches or damage to the paint surface. Whereas small scratches or swirl marks in normal shiny paint finishes can be corrected with polishing or other methods, damage in a matte paint job is usually permanent. Attempting to fix even a small scratch can start to change the surface qualities of matte paint, making for an inconsistent appearance.

For the same reason, all aforementioned automakers recommend against automatic car washes. The tough nylon bristles of rotating brushes will scratch and damage the matte paint or vinyl, so owners should have the vehicle protected with Ceramic Pro 9H to prevent this damage prior to taking delivery of the vehicle. Finally, all liquid or paste car waxes should be avoided because they include cleaning agents that will change the luster and sheen on the paint surface. BMW, Mercedes, and Hyundai strongly warn against ever using any kind of polish, wax, or rubbing compounds.

Washing & Cleaning

Compared to glossy paint finishes, the surfaces of matte cars need to be washed more often and more gently. The most important step is to avoid creating scratches or swirl marks while washing. Ceramic Pro New York uses high-quality microfiber towels and soft wash mitts, and washing them thoroughly after each car wash. We utilize automotive-specific liquid car wash soap that will not damage the surface and can be used safely.  We use two buckets — one with soapy suds, one with just water — to avoid contamination. After applying the soap through a foam cannon, dousing the wash mitt in the plain water and wringing it out will prevent some grime from being carried back into the clean, soap-filled bucket.

To avoid introducing corrosive and scratching brake dust into the paintwork, LI Detailers also use a separate wash mitt for cleaning the wheels with a separate bucket of water. We begin each wash session by pressure-washing the car. The nozzle should be at least 10 inches from the surface of the car.

Both BMW and Mercedes stress that anything that sticks to the paint surface, like dead bugs, tree sap, or bird droppings, should be removed immediately. Because rubbing aggressively can ruin the matte finish, the companies recommend dousing the item in insect remover or car-wash soap before gently rubbing it away. Water spots should likewise be cleaned off quickly, even if they result from something as trivial as driving past a garden sprinkler.

Once the vehicle is cleaned and properly prepped the application of multiple coats of Ceramic Pro 9H to all painted surface begins.  Once the car has been completely coated the coating is allowed to cure for 24 hours.  Once cured the surface will have provide:

  • Permanent Protection
  • Scratch Resistance (Above 9H)
  • Super Hydrophobic Effect
  • Super hydrophobic Effect
  • Weather & UV Resistance
  • UV & Temperature resistant
  • Thermal Resistance (up to 750°C)
  • Anti-Graffiti

No Warranty Coverage

Matte paint finishes aren’t any less durable than regular gloss finishes, but they simply need more attention to keep them looking new. That could dissuade some people from spending a few thousand dollars on the unique paint, unless of course they’ve got a strong desire to stand out from the crowd. With the vehicle surfaces protected by Ceramic Pro, clients have the ability to easily and safely maintain the matte finish with significantly less risk of damaging it.

There’s one final word of warning to customers considering buying a car with a matte paint finish. Both Hyundai and BMW explicitly state that any damage to the paint caused by improper care or environmental factors is excluded from warranty coverage. In other words, you’re on your own if you ruin the paint. With your vehicle protected by a 5 Year Warranty, matte finishes can stay pristine for years!

Protect Your Vehicle From Damaging Road Salt at Apollo Coatings and Detailing

Protect Your Car From Damaging Salt With Revolutionary Nano-Ceramic Glass Coatings

With winter in full-force across the northeast, salt crews have been on the go prepping roadways before, after and during inclement winter weather. Although road salt is essential for safe winter driving, it can also lead to numerous car troubles.

It chemically turns that ice back into water so that the car tires can then reach the pavement for traction, instead of just sliding on top of the ice.

While road salt is imminent to safe winter driving, it is also extremely corrosive and over time it can cause extensive damage to vehicles.

The biggest threat salt poses to a vehicle is rust, which is accelerated by repeated exposure to salt. Rust on certain parts of a car can create a slew of problems ranging from hydraulic brake system leaks to sub frame damage.

Due to the construction of a vehicle with most of the underbody being wide open, most salt damage occurs underneath the car and as a result can be difficult to detect visually.  Here are some effects road salt can have on your vehicle:

Paint Erosion

One common problem caused by road salt is car paint erosion. Although this may not happen over night, continued interaction with road salt can destroy the paint on a car over time. Modern automotive paint is better than it was decades ago; and improved primers and corrosion-resistant coatings decrease the impact road salt has on vehicles. Even with better paint, owners and their vehicles fall victim to the winter road warrior otherwise known as road salt. After a few winters, drivers may find they need a new paint job.

Corrosion

Another more serious problem caused by road salt is rusting. Although the paint serves as a protective layer for the metal of a vehicle, other areas of exposed metal, such as underneath the car, become victims of road salt. Over time, road salt can even eat through the vehicle’s paint and get to the metal underneath. Even though rust is not usually a safety factor, it can be quite expensive to fix. Once rust forms, it usually spreads. Because of this, it’s best to deal with rust before it occurs.

Structural Damage

What makes structural damage so severe and dangerous is that it occurs out of sight. Sometimes, the paint of a vehicle appears normal, but road salt has begun to eat away at the undercarriage of the vehicle. The undercarriage is at the highest risk level for road salt damage because it is constantly exposed to road salt — being so close to the road — and it does not feature a protective layer of paint, unless specially added. Structural damage, such as severe rusting, can be very expensive to fix and can cause safety hazards.

Prevention

The best way to prevent road salt damage is to wash the vehicle frequently. Washing a vehicle can remove salt from out-of-sight places. The undercarriage is especially important to wash because of frequent salt build-up. Parking a vehicle in a warm place, where the ice melts, can accelerate the damage caused by salt. To help prevent damage from road salt, a driver should wash their car about once a week.   At LI Detailers we offer a revolutionary way to protect your undercarriage and the rest of your vehicles surfaces with nano-ceramic glass coatings!  We utilize multiple application techniques to ensure every inch of your vehicle is protected with an impervious glass layer that resist all of the damaging effects of winter while making the surfaces easier to clean and super-hydrophobic.  These coatings resist chemical damage and extreme temperatures.  To get your vehicle protected contact lI Detailers to schedule an appointment!
